Among the line-up of staff, children and dogs outside this Palmerston North coach-building firm are the two owners, Mr Browning and Mr Tory (wearing aprons at left) and apprentice Alex Worsfold (also wearing an apron, right of his employers). Making horse-drawn coaches was a skilled craft that practically disappeared in the early 20th century, as motors took over from horse power.
