Story: Health practitioners

District nurse, 1950

District nurses visited sick people in their homes and did preventative health work – such as visiting schools and giving talks to parents – to ease the burden on hospitals. This video depicts a Wellington district nurse visiting an Italian family in the seaside suburb of Island Bay in 1950.
