This 1922 newspaper article sets out the terms of an agreement between the government and Te Arawa over access to and ownership of lakes in the Rotorua region. This agreement was one of the earliest settlements between the Crown and Māori over tribal grievances, and a forerunner of the Waitangi Tribunal settlements that began in the late 1970s.
