Story: Treaty of Waitangi

Treaty of Waitangi sheets: Waikato–Manukau (3rd of 8)

This treaty sheet is the only English-language copy known to have been distributed. It was sent to the missionary Robert Maunsell at his mission at Waikato Heads when, by coincidence, a large gathering of Waikato–Ngāti Maniapoto chiefs was taking place. Maunsell convinced 32 of those chiefs to sign this sheet. It was then returned to Manukau where a further seven signed.
