Mines rescue team

Wearing cumbersome equipment, members of the Waikato District mines rescue team pose beside their van in 1942. After the Glen Afton mine disaster of 1939, when 11 men died of carbon-monoxide poisoning, a rescue station was established at Rotowaro.
