Transporting surfboards

Transporting surfboards

Lightweight Malibu boards could be transported on top of a car or van, and trips to explore new surf breaks became popular during the 1960s. These surfers were photographed at Mimiwhangata Bay, Northland, in 1966. The trucks, a 1945 Ford and 1946 Chevrolet, are laden with their surfboards.
