Saving Manapōuri

During a campaign to stop the level of Lake Manapōuri being raised for hydroelectric generation, the ‘Save Manapōuri’ lobby issued mock share certificates to those who donated to the cause. Public pressure was effective – the hydro project was dropped after the election of a new government in 1972.
