Flickr exhibition: earthquake damage in Christchurch, February 2011

The internet was a pivotal source of information following the severe earthquake in Christchurch in February 2011. Within minutes following the quake hundreds of people posted photographs of damage onto the internet. Social media sites such as Twitter and Facebook not only alerted people to what was happening, but also helped many people get in touch with friends and family to check that they were alright.
