Orthodox rabbi, Wellington

Rabbi Abraham Sternfein blows the shofar (ceremonial ram's-horn trumpet) to mark Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, which begins in September. In 1996 Polish-born Sternfein was the acting rabbi at Wellington's orthodox Jewish synagogue in Webb Street. The Wellington Hebrew Congregation began meeting in 1843.
