Could you please update some of the information. His daughter Te Pura didnt die in 1879 thats when she was born. She died in 1933,and was the wife of Pokaia Tawhiao King Tawhiaos eldest child. i know this as she is my great great grand mother. Also her full name was kahukiwi te pura Tawhiao nee te wheoro. And Werimu was originally buried at Maurea in Rangiriri as he was branded a traitor by his peers at the time. Maori Queen Te Atairangikahu later pardon him and he was moved to Taupiri Maunga.
I can critique a number of other errors thougj i shall not as I'll be rewriting a bit of your history....
Tena koe Michael. Thanks very much for drawing our attention to these errors and omissions. We have done some more research which confirms your information about Te Pura - it seems that they had another daughter who died in that year (of typhoid, aged 18 or 19) and this probably caused the confusion. We plan to reword this section to say, 'He married Pakia and they appear to have had two daughters together; the first died of typhoid fever in her teenage years in 1879, around the same time as the birth of their second daughter, Te Kahukiwi te Pura te Wherowhero (Te Pura or Waraki Nganeko). Te Pura died in 1933.' I hope this is acceptable?
In terms of the move to Taupiri, are you able to provide evidence of when this happened? If this can be confirmed we will add it to the essay too.
Ngā mihi
