Comics were hugely popular with children and young people in the 1950s. This young boy in school uniform is reading the British children's magazine Jack and Jill, which included comics. The back page is devoted to the Tiny tales comic strip. 

Cowboys had long been a popular subject for comics. Listen to this reading of a 'Catapult cowboy' comic, which was broadcast on the radio in 1974.
