The above genealogical table (whakapapa) is incorrect.
I know these whakapapa intimately as they are my own lines. There are published genealogies by Pei Te Hurinui Jones that are in direct conflict with his table here. I would intimate, that he learnt the corrections after the publication of Nga Moteatea. Genealogies that feature in Bruce Biggs, "Nga Iwi o Tainui" are the work of Pei Te Hurinui, and will undoubtedly conflict with what is here.
I emphasize that these lines are very well known in Tainui, both to the novice and the Historian alike.
Here are the errors as I have noted them.
Most of the errors are on the right side, ie: the Ngati Hourua side.
(1) Hourua is not the child of Haua. Her husband, Pukauae is his son. Hourua is the daughter of Puakirangi, and the sister to the celebrated Whare and Tapaue.
(2)Te Ahooterangi is indeed the Father of Raumako, but the wife that is listed there, Parengaope is not her Mother. Her mother was Rawhatihoro, the first wife of Te Aho.
(3)Te Raumako's husband is not Murirangawhenua. His name was Muriwhenua, and there is a well known proverb that features his name, "Nga Uri a Muriwhenua - He Kaitanga" which means the descendants of Muriwhenua are the eaters of Men.
